Dr Ross de Steiger

Dr. Ross de Steiger graduated from Monash University in 1985 and worked in Melbourne before he moved to Bairnsdale in 1989. He has worked at Bairnsdale Medical Group since then as a partner and also a Visiting Medical Officer at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service.

He has a special interest in teaching the next generation of doctors and has been a Rural Australian Medical Undergraduate Scholarship mentor for many years, encouraging Gippsland students to embark on a medical career in a rural environment.

He has been instrumental in facilitating the initial acceptance of rural GP Registrars into the clinic, with the goal of working long term at Bairnsdale Medical Group.

He remains committed to ongoing care in Family General Practice.

He also holds an honorary position as casual lecturer at Monash University Rural Medical School.
