Fees
Bairnsdale Medical Group is a mixed fee billing clinic. Our specific fees are outlined below.
We do bulk bill:
- Pension card holders (in most instances).
- Department of veteran’s Affairs card holders.
Your pension status does not guarantee that you will be bulk billed and in some instances there will be an out of pocket fee.
Patients who do not hold a valid concessional card will continue to incur a private fee.
The clinic is open for urgent presentations from 08:30 am to 12:30 am Saturday. All consultations on Saturday will be billed at the private week end rate.
Should you be experiencing financial hardship, please speak to your doctor during the consultation.
Prescription requests can be ordered without an appointment with your doctor in most instances. The relevant form can be completed at the reception desk or submitted online.
A $15.00 fee will apply with each request.
For a detailed breakdown of our fees, please visit our website, or speak to our friendly reception team.
If you are unable to attend an appointment for any reason, please inform the clinic with at least 2 hours notice.
A $44.00 missed appointment fee is raised for any missed consultations.

Medicare Rebate Information
The patient rebate from Medicare was frozen from 2014 until 2018 and the most recent increase was below the consumer price index. This widening gap is explained in the attached link from the Australian Medical Association -why is there a Gap? (please click here). The costs of running a private business continue to rise disproportionately to your patient Medicare Rebate which now represents about 30% of your full GP care.
We would encourage you to discuss any concerns you have about your Medicare Rebate with your Federal Member of Parliament.
